Merienda and Labada (Snacks and Laundry) Art Print

Mama is doing the laundry, and then Ate Mai interrupts her when she yelled: “Banana-Q! Mapali la pa, bayu lang lutu!” (Fried candied plantains! They’re still hot, freshly cooked!) And that line was enough for me to salivate! I look at mum and she looks at me, “Kuma kang beinte keng pitaku ku” (Get a twenty from my purse), and then she yells back to Ate Mai: “Dinan mu kung atlu, buri ku tang dakal mayumu!” (Give me three sticks, I want the ones with lots of sugar!)

then laundry work stops for a bit, as we carefully eat the piping hot banana-q’s. Except with this illustration, why did I draw isaw and fishballs? 😆
